Webinars and live meetings

Webinars: These have continued on a bi-weekly basis and are now in their sixth year. They will continue next year as per the published schedule for 2026. Thank you to all those who have regularly attended and contributed to these sessions.

Symposia:

As several people have expressed an interest in resuming live meetings we held a face to face meeting on Wednesday March 19th 2025.

The venue was The Betjeman Arms in St Pancras station. We hired a private room for ten people and an email was sent out inviting people to reserve a place. The meeting was also broadcast over Zoom. The cost was £337. There were six attendees in person and two over Zoom.

The event proved successful in terms of the facilities though it would have been a tight squeeze for the hope for ten. Rearranging the furniture could help in this aspect.

As an open meeting I feel it was less satisfactory for those who joined online, as it was more difficult for them to join in. In future we should only broadcast structured meetings with organised presentations.

I approached the Worshipful Company of Information Technologists(WCIT) at Smithfield to book the venue for a full day event in from June through September. Unfortunately the were fully booked over this period. I think we probably need a short list of possible venues and I would welcome suggestions.

Consolidating the web sites

Migration and consolidation of the BAA websites and email services to a 20i cloud server continues.

I have migrated the archive and the vector, org,uk mail service to the cloud server. See the archive at Vector.

I am currently covering the costs but will invoice the BAA and hand over the billing when all migration work is complete.

We still plan to merge the first two sites into a single site but will do this after the migration is complete.
